The official launch of the AIESEC Alumni Romania Association took place on 6th of June 2019 at Impact Hub Bucharest. Celebrated in a friendly environment and with lots of dear memories, this launch brought together 200 people and it was the largest AIESEC Alumni meeting in Romania in the last 29 years.
The launch began with the offering of name tags, badges and t-shirts customized with AAR. The hosts of the event were Mihai Moghior (Zipu) (President of AIESEC Alumni Romania) and Oana Nedelcov with Ovidiu Toader, or Blondy & OviTo. Zipu spoke about the context and the motivation behind the establishment of the AAR Association, as well as about the setting of new horizons together, this time as a strong community. All those who attended understood the significance and the importance of being part of an international context, a context to which AIESEC Alumni Romania is present and has a contribution with positive impact. Zipu also mentioned that, at ERAC 2019 (European Regional Alumni Congress) held in Moravia (Czech Republic), AIESEC Alumni Romania received 3 important distinctions: the Alumni Theme Program Award, the Activation Success Award and the organisation of ERAC 2020 Conference from 14th to 17th of May in Bucharest, Romania.
The event continued with the three pillars underpinning the AAR’s activities: creating socialization opportunities, professional collaboration and personal development for the members – Alumni to Alumni, the support for generations of current and future AIESEC-ers – Alumni to AIESEC, and the involvement in projects for a positive impact on society – Alumni to Society. In this regard, each responsible for one of the 3 AAR directions spoke about the projects that are or will be going on in the Association: for Alumni to Alumni, Oana Maria Călin (Oani)spoke about ALUMnite Bucharest, Alumni Talks, A -Groups, AAR National Congress, ERAC and AAIC, for Alumni to AIESEC, Irina Simulescu talked about Board of Advisors (BOA), Alumni Mentoring Program, Training and Facilitation or Donations, all these in collaboration with AIESEC in Romania, and for Alumni to Society, Teia Marina Ciulacu spoke about the Alumni Theme Program (ATP), a program through which AIESEC Alumni Romania contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Another special moment at the launching event was the presence on stage of Wolfgang Klaar (forefather of AIESEC in Romania), Marian Popa (all time partner of AIESEC in Romania) and several of the founding members who turned back somehow the audience 29 years ago and who talked about the beginnings of the AIESEC Association, as well as about all the support which they provided to the Association over the years, including those who will follow, this time alongside AAR and AIESEC in Romania. Wolfgang Klaar and Marian Popa have received distinctions and are the first Honorary Members of the AIESEC Alumni Romania Association.
Equally touching was the presence of international guests – Christiane Stein (VP Communication AIESEC Alumni Europe), Dieter Langenecker (former President of AIESEC Alumni Austria) and Alexander Tichy (President of AIESEC Alumni International) who confirmed to the public the AIESEC Alumni Romania’s membership in the big European and International family of AIESEC Alumni, and who have committed to provide guidance and support for all AAR projects and activities.
The launch of the AAR Association was sprinkled with many beautiful moments created by the AIESEC spirit, mission and values, it generated an extraordinary energy, but also many memories that sparked the nostalgia of everyone from their times in AIESEC. After the event, everyone enjoyed an Alumni Beer / ALUMnite like in the old days.
